It utilizes city roads and has a length of 13,629 km with 21 curves, which makes it one of the longest circuits in the world. Le Mans circuit is a semi-permanent race course and most famous for hosting the 24 Hours of Le Mans and MotoGP France.
The circuit can be divided into 2 configurations. Circuit de la Sarthe is the main configuration with a length of 13,629 km and 21 curves. This configuration is the venue for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Bugatti Circuit is the smaller configuration with a length of 4,272 km and 10 turns. This configuration is the venue for the French MotoGP.
A famous feature of circuit Le Mans is known is the infamous slow Mulsane corner where drivers have to reduce their speed from nearly 200 km/h to 65 km/h on a short distance. Also amazing is the 6 km long straight called Ligne Droite des Hunaudieres; as it leads to the village of Mulsanne it is often called the Mulsane Straight. Another famous feature is the Dunlop Bridge, which was installed after the 1st corner in 1932. |
